Photography is not just my job- it is my passion, it fills my soul and I wouldn't be complete without it! I love connecting with my clients and creating real images of their life's stories. Whether it be a newborn baby fresh in life, an expectant mother glowing from within or bride and groom on their magical day, I am always so honored to step inside their world for a moment in time, discover who they are and capture their unique spirit on film.

Even as a little girl growing up in Seattle I remember being drawn to photography. Watching family slideshows in the living room, Ansel Adam's grand black and white images hanging on the walls, devouring my grandmother's albums filled with classic old photographs and being fascinated by my dad's big camera (and hip rainbow camera strap!). However, it was not until I was in my early 20's that I really began to pursue this passion and start believing in my self as an artist.

I had recently finished graduate school at the University of Washington and had started my first job working with children and families in crisis when my husband gave me my first "real" camera for my birthday - a heavy Canon RT that I still hold onto. I began shooting constantly, most often of him surfing, our big beloved dogs and the beautiful state of Washington. A few years later after having my first baby girl, well...need I say more?! The combination of so intensely loving this little human being and my growing interest in developing my own style of photography took things to a whole new level (somehow shooting my husband and friends out in the waves took a back seat... maybe again someday sweetheart!). I knew I loved it, people said I had "the eye", but I needed to learn more technical skills, as I was completely self taught. So, after a few photography courses, endless teaching and encouragement from my fabulous photography mentor (see dandarroch.com for beautiful aerial landscapes) and the amazing support from my family and friends...my little business began.

I believe that working as a therapist in earlier years helped me lay the foundation for my natural desire and ability to connect with others. It taught me to really "see" someone, to be patient and help bring out their true personality. Even more impacting has been being a mother of 3. Experiencing the wonder of birth and the magic of life through a child's eye has caused me to feel this world in a magnificient way. I know those precious, sometimes fleeting, moments we experience as we raise our children- the desire to freeze time as it truly does go by so quickly. Two parts of me have come together. I am so blessed to be walking this path, to be nurturing my passion and to have it as my job all in one.

Years later it sometimes still shocks me to be referred to as an artist, but I guess that is who I have become... and I love it. I now see everything as through the lens of a camera- and that is a beautiful thing to me, as many ordinary moments seem to really imprint themselves inside me, as if an image on film. I hope to have the opportunity to work with you and leave you, too, with beautiful photographs and memories to fill your lifetime.
