Open Streets CapitolaSunday, May 4, 2014

Open Streets is coming to Capitola Village Sunday, May 4th from 11:00am to 4:00pm. Head down to the Village to take advantage of all the fun and family friendly activities planned for the day.
Capitola Village streets will be closed to traffic and opened up for pedestrian and bicycle use. Attendees will be treated to a variety of interactive activities and demos, as well as live entertainment and informational tables. Capitola Village businesses will be holding a Passport to Capitola Village Raffle with two prize packages worth $200.00 each to Village businesses. The Kite Classic will also be taking place on Capitola Beach. Raffle, entry to the event and activities are all free.
There will be live music by the Ukelele Club, Plateau Dixieland Jazz, Steve Graves Band, Peter Weiss the Singing Scientist and marimba music by Sadza. Some of the activites that day will include: Beach Bingo, hula hooping, juggling, hula and Tahitian dance, a kid's bicycle obstacle course and Capitola history tours. Easter Egg Hunt on the BeachApril 19, 2014

On the beach and lagoon in front of the Capitola Venetian Hotel.
Gather the kids, grab their baskets, and hop on down to Capitola Village for the annual Easter egg hunt! Children 12 and under can hunt for candy-filled eggs hidden in the sand. Area divided for children ages 5-under and ages 6-12. To ensure fun for everyone, we ask parents limit 3 eggs per child.
Bring your camera to capture a memorable spring day on the beach in Capitola! The Easter bunny will be there! This FREE family event happens rain or shine! All ages and skill levels welcome. Have fun and win prizes! First 50 people to register get a free kite!! Bring your own kite to compete or just have fun and enjoy the colorful display! Art and Music at the BeachSundays, June - August
Art and Music At The Beach is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy a Sunday afternoon in Capitola Village. Live Music is featured on the Esplanade Stage and local artists display their work in Esplanade Park overlooking Capitola Beach and the Monterey Bay. 11:00am - 5:00pm

The Art and Cultural Commission bring Wednesday Night Twilight Concerts to Capitola Village on the Esplanade Stage. Families and friends are encouraged to come down and enjoy an array of musical styles from jazz, western, latin, swing, orchestra to rock and roll. The bands will perform from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Bring a picnic dinner and chairs to sit on either in the park or on the beach while enjoying the music filled sunset. A blanket and warm jackets are always a good idea as the summer weather can bring the fog.

Mermaid Triathalon and DuathalonOctober 5

The City of Capitola welcomes the Mermaid! Come down and support the athletes or take part in the 9th Annual Mermaid Triathlon/Duathalon in Santa Cruz County.

Children's Halloween ParadeOctober TBA
Parade begins at 2:00 PM
Line-up at 1:30 PM in the Pacific Cove Parking Lot above Capitola Police Department and City Hall. Parade winds through Capitola Village and ends at Esplanade Park.
Enjoy refreshments, entertainment, goody bags, balloons, and trick-or-treating at Village merchants. This free, family-friendly event is hosted by the Capitola-Soquel Chamber of Commerce.

Capitola Main Beach
Surfing Santa arrives with his outrigger canoe and surfboard on the shores of Capitola Main Beach at 12 noon. Be sure to bring your camera to capture Santa's wave-riding arrival. Once Santa has toweled off, he'll settle in his beach chair to hear holiday wishes and have a nice long visit with all the children. The event is free and hosted by the Capitola-Soquel Chamber of Commerce.
